The
smallest Amador winery produces very BIG wines. The
Zinfandels and Syrahs are very robust -- filled
with deep flavor -- as are their sangioveses and
viogniers. FoothillsWine.com is very fortunate to
be able to offer these sterling wines. The winery
is located on Steiner Road, in the Shenandoah
Valley.
We suggest, if
you're in Amador County, that you visit this small
winery, which is located near several other winery
operations. First, the drive through the rolling
vineyards is scenic. Then you arrive at the winery
building -- set back from an oak-sheltered patio.
the barrel room is also the tasting room. You feel
as if you're in a cool cave. And the winemaker,
Milan Matulich, often is there to tend his wine and
to talk to visitors.
Dobra Zemlja also
produces what it calls Byelo od Byelo (blanc de
blancs), made from Viognier (70%) and Marsanne
(30%). While it has a fruity taste, as a Rhone
blend should, this white wine is quite dry, with a
hint of honey to the nose and taste.
Tasting Room: open
daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. -- at 12505 Steiner
Road, near Plymouth.
