Santino
has been one of the well established wineries in
the Sierra Foothills (for more than 20 years), and
focused on the production of Zinfandel, helping to
feed the White Zin craze in the 1980s and early
'90s. Santino also became noted for its Zinfandel
Port.
More
lately, Renwood has grown out of the Santino
experience, and the winery produces wine under the
two labels. This is one of the larger Amador
wineries, and one of the few that is not a family
operation, having been sold to major
interests.
Renwood's
wines have been highly praised from the inception
of the label. It offers hand-crafted
vineyard-designated Zinfandels, along with Syrah,
Barbera, Viognier, Fume Blanc, Muscat and two
dessert wines: Amador Ice, and Port. The winery
also produces a Rhone-style blend called
Satyricon.
