Bruce
Tichenor, co-owner (with his wife Jan) and
winemaker for this Amador winery, benefits
from some of the oldest infandel and Mission vines
in the region. he is one of the few winemakers who
produces wine from Mission grapes, the variety
origina;lly brought to California by the Spanish
priests who founded the chain of missions, more
than 200 years ago. The older vineyards here date
back to the early 1900s. As well as distinctive
Zinfandels and their signature Mission and a
Mission/Zin blend, the winery offers other reds:
Barbers and Merlot, plus Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc,
and White Zinfandel.
Established
in 1973, the winery and surrounding vineyards
overlook the Cosumnes River Canyon, and visitors to
the tasting room can have an enjoyable picnic under
huge oak trees.
Annual production
is around 2,500 cases.

and weekends from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
