The
Madrona vineyards spread over high, rolling hills
just west of the Sierra Foothill village of Camino.
Along with Lava Cap, this winery has the highest
elevation of any winery in California. The hot days
and coller nights at this height above sea level
give the wines produced here intense character.
Since 1973, Madrona has produced award winning
wines. The winemaker is High Chappelle, and he
crafts distinctive wines including Zinfandel,
Merlot, Chardonnay, and Gewurztraminer, plus a
Mourvedre Rose, and a Chard/Semillon blend. Dessert
wines include a Cabernet Port, and a Select Harvest
Riesling.
Premium
reserve wines include Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Syrah,
and a sweet Late Harvest Zinfandel, and although
these are excellent premium wines, bottle prices
are all at $20 or less.
