Located in the Fair Play area of El Dorado County, Mitchell produces a wide range of red and white wines. A large vineyard is devoted to Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel. Across the lane is another large vineyard planted with Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Other wines produced include Viognier, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Muscat, and Port.

The Barkley Historic Homestead, across the canyon from the vineyards, offers scenic accommodations beside "Lake Charles." The original lodge dates to the 19th century. the winery also has a 2-acre picnic ground.
